ANZAC Day

Sunday, 25th April 2010

ANZAC Day commemorations started early at Motueka High School with a special assembly to honour Major Sandy Thomas, old boy of the school, being held on the first day of term. Head Students also participated at the ANZAC service held in Motueka. In the opening part of their speech, Mara and Salim remind us of the significance of this event.

ANZAC Day "This morning, we stand here to honour Anzac Day: a day when we remember war veterans who gave up their youth for a world that we enjoy today. We are privileged to enjoy peace because of the sacrifices others made. We are here, because our parents, grandparents and great grandparents gave up their teenage years, the comforts of home and for many of them, even their lives; for us."
