Junior Graduation

Our junior graduation system is designed to help prepare students for success throughout their time here at Motueka High School. In conjunction with our students, we have formulated a set of criteria based on the Human Rights Charter and best practice for study. Students are graded from 1-4 at the end of each term.

Managing Self: bringing the right equipment, being responsible, being punctual

  • 4 (Excellent) - The student always has the correct equipment and is highly organised
  • 3 (Good) - The student usually has the correct equipment and is well organised
  • 2 (Cause for Concern) - The student sometimes has the correct equipment and is sometimes organised
  • 1 (Unacceptable) - The student seldom has the correct equipment and is poorly organised

Having Respect: for the school, for the other students, for the teacher, for yourself

  • 4 (Excellent) - The student is always respectful of their right and the right of others to learn
  • 3 (Good) - The student is usually respectful of their right and the right of others to learn but has some lapses
  • 2 (Cause for Concern) - The student sometimes disrespects their right and the right of others to learn
  • 1 (Unacceptable) - The student often disrespects their right and the right of others to learn

Strive to Learn: getting involved in classwork, making a good effort to learn, completing work

  • 4 (Excellent) - The student always strives to learn and completes work to the best of their ability
  • 3 (Good) - The student usually strives to learn and completes work to the best of their ability
  • 2 (Cause for Concern) - The student requires prompting and reminders to attempt and complete work.
  • 1 (Unacceptable) - The student�s effort and completion of work is well below that which is acceptable.
