Student Successes

Our NCEA results are significantly above the national averages. We have some of the top students in the region in their given subjects. We offer a wide range of course to cater for the needs of as many students as possible. Our former students are achieving at universities, polytechnics and in the work place. It is important to us that each student achieves and acquires the skills to be able to do what they want with their lives and to become good citizens.

Student Leaders

There is a wide range of opportunities for students to make a difference and to demonstrate leaderhsip. Leadership development is a major strength of this school and we actively nurture the potential in individuals. There are 20 designated Captains or Head Student roles in Year 13, and many more opportunities to lead and participate in other groups and forums that are open to all.

Student Contacts

Students can meet with a Student Contact - a specially trained senior student who can act as a mentor, a mediator or just a listening ear. The Student Contacts take turns to be available at The House most lunchtimes and intervals, and also organise some lunchtime and small group activities for the younger students.

Student Council

The Student Council is a formal forum for students who wish to voice concerns about school matters in general. Students are encouraged to speak with any of the Councillors who will represent their views to school management. The Council is formed each year, with a Year 13 student to lead the committee, with all the school's leadership captains, the Board of Trustees representative and with 2 elected representatives from each year level. The Head Students are ex-officio members.
