Student support
The wellbeing of our students is very important to us – happy, well-balanced young people can focus on their studies and are more able to reach their potential. We offer a number of opportunities for students to find the support they need.
Students are invited to visit Te Whare Pora, affectionately known as “The House”. Painted and decorated in bright colours, the House is student-centred and staffed by warm, non-judgemental, approachable people, passionate about student welfare.
Here students can find the School Counsellor, the Head of Learning Support, the Truancy Officer, and the Careers and Transition Staff. A series of clinics are timetabled through the week, and we maintain close liaison with other helping agencies who visit when requested. These include the Public Health Nurse, Sexual Health Nurse, RTLB, GSE, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counsellors, CYFS Social Workers, Strengthening Families Facilitators, the Youth Aid Officer, and several Youth Workers.
